Las Vegas, NV—Fujifilm North America Corporation announced the Fujinon XF16–55mm f/2.8 R LM WR weather-resistant standard zoom lens. The 24–84mm equivalent lens offers a classic zoom range with a constant f/2.8 aperture.
The lens uses 14 sealing points for a weather-resistant and dustproof design, which makes it an ideal companion for photojournalists who do not want to compromising when weather conditions are the most challenging. Whether shooting wide-angle landscapes or medium-telephoto portraits, the XF16–55mm is engineered to deliver “ideal image results from edge to edge.”
It is also said to provide “extremely high resolution and stunning bokeh for professional-grade results” when paired with the Fujifilm X-T1 or any X-series CSC. Using the newly developed Nano-GI (gradient index) coating technology, the lens is designed to effectively inhibit ghosting and flare.
Other features include: Fujifilm’s X mount; 17-element, 12-group construction with three aspherical elements to control aberration and three ED glass elements to reduce chromatic aberration; a 9-blade aperture to create smooth, circular bokeh; 1/3 EV steps; a minimum working distance of less than 12 inches; a lightweight internal focusing system; and a twin linear motor for quiet, high-speed autofocus as fast as 0.06 second. When combined with the near-silent shutter sound of the X-T1, photos can be taken unnoticed in sensitive locations.
The Fujinon XF16–55mm f/2.8 R LM WR will be available February 2015 for $1,199.95. fujifilmusa.com
