Union, NJ—The new Hasselblad H5D-50c, first announced in mid-January and debuting at the CP+ Camera and Photo Imaging Show in Japan three weeks later, is now available worldwide. The medium-format system camera boasts a 50 megapixel CMOS sensor with almost twice the physical size of the largest 35mm DSLR sensor.

“As with all our cameras, the H5D-50c was developed with one goal in mind—to produce simply the best image quality possible today,” said Ove Bengtson, Hasselblad product manager. “This CMOS sensor model represents a major leap forward in camera development and breaks new grounds for medium-format photographers who now will be able to shoot with the ultimate in image quality, regardless of lighting conditions. Outstanding ISO performance, up to ISO 6400, will raise available light photography to new heights in this genre.”

Other key H5D-50c features include: high dynamic range (up to 14 stops) for improved detail in shadow and highlight areas; longer shutter speeds of up to 12 minutes; a faster capture rate of 1.5 frames per second; a live video function in Phocus with a higher frame rate; a True Focus autofocus system with absolute position lock and camera controls; options for working with tilt-shift; and GPS recording flexibility.

The camera is also supported by a range of 12 high-performance lenses with a built-in central lens shutter.

Hasselblad’s new H5D-50c retails for approximately $28,725, which is the same price as the H5D-50 model. hasselbladusa.com
