Center Valley, PA—Olympus is making super-telephoto shooting more accessible with the introduction of its economical M.Zuiko ED 75–300mm f/4.8–6.7 II lens (150–600mm equivalent). Olympus redesigned the lens to match its OM-D E-M5 and PEN Micro Four Thirds cameras and added a ZERO (Zuiko extra-low reflection optical) coating to keep scratches off and help eliminate ghosting and lens flare, even in bright lights.

The M.Zuiko ED 75–300mm f/4.8–6.7 II 1:4.8–6.7 telephoto lens boasts the same high focal length and components as its predecessor, the M.Zuiko Digital ED 75–300mm 1:4.8–6.7, and it is engineered to bring faraway subjects like children’s faces, animals and landscape features to life with “superb-quality close-ups,” the company notes. Olympus also fitted a circular aperture to ensure a creative bokeh with smooth and even background defocusing.

The compact size and light weight of this telephoto lens make it convenient to carry. Additionally, the redesigned lens includes Olympus’s MSC (Movie and Still Compatible) focusing technology to reduce the whir that could otherwise ruin movie playback on a HDTV.

The 75–300mm 1:4.8–6.7 lens also benefits from the five-axis image stabilization of the OM-D E-M5 compact system camera and maximizes the performance of the Olympus PEN CSCs for both still images and HD video capture.

The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 75–300mm f/4–6.7 II lens will be available in March for an estimated street price of $549.99. olympusamerica.com
