Ridgefield Park, NJ—Samsung Electronics unveiled its NX1100 compact system camera (CSC) with built-in Wi-Fi and AutoShare as part of its Smart camera series. The NX1100 also comes bundled with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.

“Never before has Samsung offered a Smart camera with this level of image quality and AutoShare at this price point,” said Ron Gazzola, vice president, Marketing, Digital Imaging, Samsung Electronics America. “Bundled with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4, the NX1100 is a great introduction for photographers in the CSC category and ideal for consumer photographers looking to upgrade their photo taking, editing and sharing experience.”

The portable camera boasts a 20.3 megapixel CMOS sensor, shutter speeds of up to 1/4,000 sec and a large, bright 3.0-inch LCD screen for composing images. Also provided is 1080p Full HD video capture and technologies like Smart Auto 2.0, which are designed to allow even novice photographers to take pictures like an expert.

But the focus here is on sharing, and the NX1100 offers Samsung Smart Camera 2.0 features. These include a Smart Link hot key on the top of the camera that, with the touch of the button, enables consumers to connect via Wi-Fi and share photos instantly and securely between the camera and a mobile device or directly to social media sites like Facebook and YouTube. Samsung’s Smart Camera app, available for Android and iOS, creates a secure connection with the camera, which detects and auto-connects to a mobile device wirelessly whenever any of its Smart features are activated.

Other Smart 2.0 functions include: AutoShare, which automatically sends full resolution images and video to the user’s mobile device; Mobile Link, which allows users to select and transfer images or albums from the camera directly to a smartphone; and Remote Viewfinder, which provides users the ability to control the camera from a smartphone or tablet.

To add more value to the NX1100, Adobe Lightroom 4 ($149 value), a digital photography workflow solution, is provided to help amateur and pro photographers quickly import, manage, enhance and showcase their images within one application. Lightroom 4 is upgradeable once future versions are released.

Plus, for set it and forget it shooting, the smart auto setting permits the camera to analyze, identify and automatically select the most appropriate scene mode for the best results. Scene detection technology identifies the conditions and automatically adjusts settings—whether photos are taken in low light or capturing fireworks.

For users seeking more control, a smart panel allows them to explore their own photography skills with full manual control settings for aperture, shutter speed and flash—all from a single menu screen. NX1100 photos will also benefit from 10 exclusive smart filters, a new selective color function that enables users to isolate a single color in an image for a dramatic effect, and 3D panorama, which creates immersive shots of landscapes and scenery.

Samsung’s NX1100 compact system camera is now available in white and black, with a 20–50mm f/3.5–5.6 lens for an SRP of $599.99. samsung.com
