Seoul, Korea—Samyang Optics released the newest Samyang 8mm 1:2.8 UMC fisheye lens tailored for Sony NEX and Samsung NX compact system cameras, stating it is the “smallest and the brightest fisheye lens compatible with compact cameras featuring APS-C sensors. It perfectly combines high optical value, impressive lens speed and exceptionally compact sizes.”

The lens’s optical construction relies on a system of 10 lenses arranged in eight groups. They include, among others, one aspherical (AS) lens and two lenses made of extra low-dispersion glass (ED), which help provide sharpness for the entire field of view and a maximum aperture of f/2.8. All surfaces of the lenses are covered with multilayered UMC antireflective coatings adding to enhance contrast and light transmission.

For both Sony NEX and Samsung NX cameras the Samyang 8mm 1:2.8 UMC fisheye lens provides a maximum angle of view of 180º with a minimum focusing distance of 0.3 meters. Release date and the expected price will be announced at a later date. syopt.co.kr/eng/index.asp
