DIR June 2014 Editor’s Note: Focusing on Summertime Imaging

1414

When our June issue comes around, we’re finally thinking about all that summer brings. And this year is no exception. Sunshine. Vacations. Beaches. Mountains. Family Reunions. And by the way, lots and lots of memories.

Father’s Day is right in front of us, and our recent graduates are headed to their next educational pursuits. And many of your customers hit the road for summer travel and vacation plans. If you think about it, summer brings out the family in all of us.

The feature articles in this issue are meant to help you focus on the products that matter most for the summer and highlight those that will be most popular. We hone in on adventure and “swimsuit” models in the highly competitive active lifestyle camera segment that can be used on the beach or at the pool. We also look at exciting POV action cameras that have invited a whole new demographic to the digital camera category, and our feature on summertime accessories showcases high-margin products that are perfect for warm weather shooting.

And as we head into the season, we all should also be talking about printing those great memories. Promoting photo books and metal prints will remind your customers that the precious memories that should last a lifetime are not the ones sitting in their cameras or smartphones; they’re the ones hanging on their walls or showcased in an album or photo book.

“When was the last time you printed your pictures?” should be on the lips of every salesperson in your store this summer.

We hope you enjoy the June issue of Digital Imaging Reporter.
