Menlo Park, CA—Kespry announced the upgraded Kespry Drone 2.0. The lighter-weight drone is engineered to fly twice as long and cover two times the ground area. It also has twice the wind resilience. The enhancements are due to a new airframe, battery and flight system improvements.

Based on requests from commercial customers, the drone now offers more than 30 minutes per flight, covering up to 150 acres at a 400-foot altitude. And it can operate effectively in up to 25 mph sustained winds and 35 mph wind gusts.

Additionally, it weighs less than 4.5 pounds, which puts it in the “Micro UAV” category for streamlined regulatory compliance around the world.

The company designed a fully automated drone system. It takes off, flies the designated flight path and lands, all without operator intervention or even a joystick. To help customers operate in congested areas, the drone’s automated system includes an onboard LiDAR sensor that automatically detects and avoids obstacles like trees and buildings.

In addition, the drone incorporates a lighter and customized Sony industrial camera that captures more geospatial data for detailed 3D models. The camera employs a 20 megapixel color image sensor.

“We’ve seen increased demand from technology partners like Kespry in the drone and robotics markets,” said John Monti, director of visual imaging solutions at Sony Electronics. “The new lightweight Sony UMC-R10C is designed specifically for industrial applications, leveraging low weight while maintaining high-quality image capture.”

Additionally, other drone features include field-swappable batteries and high-efficiency T-motor propellers and motors.

Furthermore, the drone, Kespry app and Kespry Cloud reporting system work together, so companies can quickly collect aerial intelligence. The app enables simple mobile flight planning. The Kespry Cloud is the aerial intelligence platform for the company’s drone system. Customers can securely store terabytes of data from drone flights on this platform.

The Kespry Drone 2.0 comes with a battery charger, long-range wireless remote and customer care support. kespry.com
