San Francisco, CA—Leveraging DxO’s 10+ years of image-processing expertise, the extremely compact DxO One is designed to bring DSLR image quality and additional camera features to an iPhone or iPad by connecting directly to those devices.

The 2015–2016 EISA Award winner for Photo Innovation, the DxO One measures less than three inches tall and weighs four ounces, easily fitting into a pocket. Despite its diminutive size, the camera achieves a “DxOMark sensor score of 70 and up to 85 when using the SuperRAW technology, on par with full-frame DSLRs and dramatically higher than any smartphone,” the company stated. SuperRAW format is DxO’s new proprietary file format, which takes four RAW images and merges them into one to produce dynamic photos even in extremely low light.

While the DxO One can be used in stand-alone mode, its Lightning connector enables it to attach directly to an iPhone, turning the phone’s screen into the camera’s viewfinder. The pedestal rotates +/- 60º to take pictures from creative high and low angles. A selection of camera modes are provided, such as auto, sports, portrait, landscape, night, program, aperture priority, speed priority, manual and selfie.

The DxO One specs include: a 20.2 megapixel, 1-inch BSI CMOS sensor; a 32mm-equivalent f/1.8 aspherical lens capable of producing artistic bokeh effects; a sensitivity range from ISO 100–51,200; shutter speeds from 1/8,000 to 15 seconds; Full HD 1080p video capture at 30 frames per sec and 720p at 120 fps with electronic image stabilization; contrast detection autofocus with face detection plus single-shot, continuous and tap-to-focus modes; and a microSD card slot.

The free companion app for iOS lets users control settings on the One camera, including aperture, shutter speed and ISO, and opens access to advanced shooting modes. The app also allows for seamless camera firmware updates via the App Store.

The camera comes bundled with copies of DxO Connect and DxO FilmPack Elite edition software. DxO OpticsPro Elite is also offered free with a camera purchase for a limited time.

The DxO One camera is available for preorder with an SRP of $599. dxo.com
