San Francisco. CA—An image-editing app and creative social network, PicsArt released community-powered stickers. Users can now make their own custom stickers and share them with friends.
“Stickers broaden how our community can create and express themselves,” said Hovhannes Avoyan, PicsArt CEO. “Ever since we launched our cutout tool with accurate edge detection it’s been a hugely popular feature. More than 200,000 users make images and collages with it every day. We decided to enhance cutout with the ability to create crisp, sharable stickers to encourage personalization and creation by providing users with a rich set of tools for making, sharing and discovering stickers.”
Stickers leverage PicsArt’s editing tools, including drawing, image effects and also text overlays. A sticker can be created, downloaded and remixed in PicsArt and Remix Chat. Remix Chat is a messaging system where users can share images as well as edit them collectively with friends. In addition, a sticker can be shared in iMessage, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and other social services and networks.
“The introduction of stickers to PicsArt’s platform adds another layer of fun, creative expression alongside photo editing, collage making, drawing and social editing,” added Avoyan. PicsArt’s user-powered gallery of FTE (free-to-edit) images, with more than six million, is one of the largest repositories of open source images. Now, all of those images are available for use in sticker creation. In this update, a sticker shared publicly is made available for use by everyone in PicsArt’s community and creative ecosystem.
In-App Stickers Gallery
Users can discover trending stickers and those made by friends in the PicsArt community. They are located in the new in-app gallery where all stickers have attribution to the original creator. Furthermore, users can download and customize them with doodles and artistic AI magic effects. They can then save favorites to a private collection for quick access.
Some examples include turning a beloved pup into a custom sticker for a cute dog-mojis or trying artful photobombing by pasting a self-created sticker onto a celebrity photo or a group shot of friends.
With the update, users can also create kaleidoscope or cause-oriented profile photos, wallpapers and birthday art by stamping out a selfie sticker. They can also cut out favorite cartoon characters or realistic Easter bunnies into stickers and paste them onto realistic backgrounds—for “proof” that will keep holiday magic alive.
The new version of PicsArt is available for download on iOS and Android.
