New York, NY—Polaroid has launched a new chemistry-loaded Polaroid B&W 600 film Monochrome Frames. The upgrade elevates its instant photos with enhanced chemistry and expanded shades. The improved chemistry of the Polaroid B&W 600 film Monochrome Frames allows for richer detail and lighter contrast.

“Our film chemistry is at the very heart of what we do at Polaroid. We’re hard at work on numerous research tracks to keep pushing the film forward. And moments like these when we can release the new formulations to the public are super exciting. We’re very proud to manufacture all of this in our European factories, the world’s only Polaroid film production facilities,” stated Oskar Smolokowski, Polaroid’s chairman.

Moreover, the photo-quality upgrade with the B&W 600 film Monochrome Frames provides a curated selection of frames in black, gray and white. Dedicated to continuous chemistry improvement for enhanced photo quality since its early Impossible project days, the company now offers photographers more nuances of black and white. Polaroid will roll out the improved B&W chemistry across upcoming film releases.  Polaroid_BW-600-FilmMonochrome_2024_Email_P2-3bc83b-original-1713194712Polaroid photography relies on its complex chemistry, with a positive sheet and negative material, that creates instant photography through light exposure within the camera. Light-sensitive silver halide crystals in the film react upon exposure. They form a latent image. As the film passes through rollers, a developer chemical spreads across it. This developer catalyzes the conversion of exposed crystals into metallic silver, resulting in a visible image. Moreover, other chemicals control reaction speed and stabilize image quality. They also protect against ambient light.

Available now in the U.S., Polaroid B&W 600 film Monochrome Frames offers a variety of frames in shades of black, white and gray in each pack, with eight photos and a built-in battery. In addition, it has a development time of 5–10 minutes. The upgraded film is compatible with Polaroid 600 cameras as well as the Polaroid I-2, Polaroid Now and Polaroid Now+ cameras. It also works with the Polaroid Lab printer.
