Several major firms in the consumer electronics industry have reacted to the devastation caused by the earthquake in Haiti by doing their part, including both fundraising and conferring of large direct donations. Here are some of the efforts already announced:

– Apple has placed a link in the Apple Store to encourage customers to donate to the American Red Cross. Customers can offer one-click donations, through their iTunes account, in denominations from $5 to $200.

– Panasonic announced Friday that it will donate 10 million yen- around $110,000- to the effort.

– Best Buy said Friday that it has donated $200,000 in order to aid Haiti relief efforts. The donation will be split 50/50 between the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Mercy Corps. The Red Cross donation will be directed to immediate relief, while the Mercy Corps money will go to “both immediate and long-term technology and infrastructure rebuilding.” Employees are also encouraged to volunteer or make personal donations through the Red Cross.

– Walmart announced a $500,000 donation to Red Cross emergency relief efforts, in addition to $100,000 worth of pre-packaged food kits.

– RadioShack has teamed up with cycling legend Lance Armstrong to raise money for the relief effort. Armstrong, whose cycling team is now sponsored by the retail chain, personally pledged $250,000 to the effort, while RadioShack will solicit $1 LIVESTRONG donations at its stores that will go towards Haiti.
