Bartell Drugs Rolls Out Kodak Alaris & On Demand Books’ Espresso Book Machine

Rochester, NY—Seattle-based Bartell Drugs is now offering a full-service digital-to-print media center for custom print needs, via On Demand Books’ in-store Espresso Book Machine integrated with Kodak Picture Kiosks. Introduced exclusively at Bartell Drugs University Village store as a pilot program, this marks the first time the solution has been offered in a drugstore environment.

With the new center, consumers can print high-quality, personalized self-published books of all types (photo books, family histories, novels, poetry, family recipes, school projects, etc.) or purchase books from On Demand Books’ catalog of more than seven million titles in just minutes. These include public domain books such as classics, hard-to-find titles or special interest books, via the EspressNet digital catalog.

In addition to the photo books currently available at Bartell Drugs via Kodak Alaris, the drugstore will offer photo books via the Espresso Book Machine solution beginning in spring 2014.

“This new offering from Kodak Alaris represents the latest in exciting new solutions that are relevant to our market and help us drive business in our stores,” said Howie Cohen, category manager for Bartell Drugs. “As consumers seek more ways to express themselves and create personalized products, this technology offers an exciting, accessible way for them to engage with their content, whether through words or pictures, and create something meaningful that they can treasure for a lifetime.”

Kodak Alaris’s Personalized Imaging business consists of Retail Systems solutions, a world leader in retail photo kiosks and dry lab systems; Paper & Output systems, offering photo specialty retailers, professional and wholesale labs, and photographers a broad portfolio of traditional photographic paper and workflow solutions; Film Capture, offering consumers and professionals still-camera film products; and Event Imaging Solutions, providing digital souvenir photography services and solutions at theme parks, iconic destinations, resorts and other markets worldwide.
