Valhalla, NY—Fujifilm announced the ASK-300 thermal dye-sublimation digital photo printer with a portable design and all of the benefits of Fujifilm’s commercial photo printing technology.

The low-cost solution is geared for retailers with limited counter space, at just over one square foot. Weighing 26 pounds, the ASK-300 is a “traveling” printer for event photographers, allowing them to offer various print sizes on-site in seconds. Low equipment, service and consumable expenses help reduce cost of ownership and maximize margins.

The ASK-300 produces 300-dpi 4×6-, 5×7- and 6×8-inch prints, and its large paper capacity is designed to increase productivity. Fujifilm’s Image Intelligence technology is incorporated to provide customized color correction profiles. When combined with Fujifilm’s thermal photo paper, the ASK-300 is said to achieve “stunning results,” and customers can expect enhanced whiteness and gloss, easy handling and reduced static. In keeping with Fujifilm’s sustainability philosophy, the paper is manufactured through an eco-friendly process with virtually no polluting solvents.

The ASK-300 thermal dye-sub printer will be available in March.

                               Fujifilm Frontier DL650 Dry Minilab
Also announced was the Frontier DL650 dry minilab—an inkjet lab with a six-color ink system to produce images with enhanced grain and gradation, and sizes from 3.5×5 to 12×48. It prints 950 4×6-inch photos per hour with 1,440-dpi resolution.

Production flexibility is improved with variable paper thickness printing. The DL650 can print on Fujifilm’s new thicker dry photo paper and standard weight dry photo paper, expanding product offerings. Standard six-color inks (CMYK, sky blue, pink) allow for a wider color gamut, finer grain, smoother gradation in backgrounds and improved skin tones. Also included are two-line back-printing with 40 characters per line and a 10-order sorter.

The DL650 also provides enhanced paper printing capability for two new types of premium paper, available in glossy and luster, for uses such as weddings, portraits and event photography. And, Fujifilm’s Frontier Workflow Management software with integrated Image Intelligence technology manages order fulfillment and drives multiple output devices in Fujifilm’s Frontier line. It will be available midyear. fujifilmusa.com
