Tweeter has opened two new CE Playground stores in Houston, Texas and Wilmington, Del. They follow Tweeter’s first three concept stores in Las Vegas, Nev., Oak Brook, Ill. and Burlington, Mass. Those three stores have so far proved more productive than traditional Tweeter outlets in terms of margin, sales and in-home installations in their respective markets.
Says Tweeter President and CEO Joe McGuire, “Our new business model is clearly resonating with consumers as we have provided an alternative to shopping for home and mobile entertainment products at the historically sterile big box retailers.”
The stores feature interactive displays of such products as the Sonos Digital Music System, Blu-ray and HD DVD players and Universal and car starter remotes. As with the previous stores, these new CE Playgrounds focus on a “customer journey” through notional spaces replicating an integrated home guided by a “concierge” who greets the customer at a service desk. An “On-the-Go” section with portable devices and a mobile installation bay are also featured.
Tweeter plans to roll out more of these stores across the country.
