Melville, NY—The Canon RF24mm F1.8 Macro IS STM and RF15–30mm f/4.5–6.3 IS STM lenses launched. Both are compact, lightweight wide-angle additions to the RF-mount line for EOS R cameras.
Canon RF24mm F1.8 Macro IS STM Features
The Canon RF24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM is a large-diameter, wide-angle, fixed–focal–length lens for capturing bright, clear images and bokeh. Weighing just 0.6 lb., it also offers macro capabilities.
Moreover, thanks to its wide angle of view and built-in STM (stepping) motor that tracks focus with natural movement, the RF24mm is optimized for video. This particularly includes vlogging and other social media uses.
In addition, its fast f/1.8 maximum aperture provides control over depth of field and bokeh; low-light shooting; as well as video recording. It also has a minimum focus distance of approx. 5.5 inches with a close-up magnification of 0.5x.
Its optical formula includes a UD (ultra-low dispersion) glass element; one aspheric element; as well as Canon SSC (super spectra coating) to help minimize ghosting and flare. What’s more, its optical image stabilizer achieves up to 5.5 stops of shake correction. And that goes up to 6.5 stops using coordinated IS when paired with EOS R cameras featuring in-body image stabilizers (IBIS).
Other features include a dedicated, programmable control ring with click-stop operation; 38mm-equivalent coverage when used on cameras with APS-C–size sensors; and a 9-blade circular aperture for soft backgrounds.
The Canon RF24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM will reach retail in late August with a suggested retail price of $599.99.
Canon RF15–30mm f/4.5–6.3 IS STM Specs
The new RF15–30mm IS STM lens is an ultrawide-angle zoom lens for capturing dynamic landscapes and natural snapshots. It also provides macro capabilities and produces images with beautiful bokeh, with the added flexibility of a zoom range. Moreover, on cameras with APS-C-format sensors, it features 24–48mm coverage.
It employs two UD glass elements, one aspheric and Canon SSC. In addition, it provides up to 5.0 stops of shake correction; 7.0 stops with coordinated IS when paired with EOS R cameras using IBIS.
Other features include an 11-inch minimum focus distance (5.1 in manual focus at 15mm zoom position); a Canon STM focus drive that’s especially suited for smooth, quiet video AF operation; and a weight of approx. 0.9 lb.
The Canon RF15–30 f/4.5–6.3 IS STM lens also ships late August 2022. SRP: $549.99.
