Newark, NJ—Panasonic’s newest interchangeable zoom lens will ship in July. The Panasonic Lumix S 20-60mm F3.5-5.6 (model S-R2060) is an L-mount lens for Lumix S full-frame single-lens mirrorless cameras. The Lumix S series is for professional use.
The Lumix S 20–60mm f/3.5–5.6 is a compact, lightweight standard zoom lens. Moreover, it covers from ultrawide 20mm to standard 60mm focal lengths. As a result, the versatile lens is a solution for landscape photography. In addition, its wide viewing angle makes it easier to shoot indoors where space is limited. Furthermore, photographers can benefit from its close-up capability of 5.9 inches (maximum magnification 0.43x) for still life photography.
“The new Lumix S 20–60mm f/3.5–5.6 also ensures smooth, high-quality video recording, because of a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing, which can be an issue in interchangeable lenses designed for still image photography,” the company announced.

The lens is constructed with 11 elements in 9 groups. What’s more, it uses two aspherical lenses and three ED (extra-low dispersion) lenses to suppresses both axial chromatic aberration and chromatic aberration of magnification. Astigmatism is also corrected with these aspherical lenses. Furthermore, a UHR (ultra-high refractive index) lens achieves uniform image quality from the center to edges of the image; it also contributes to the downsizing of the lens unit.
For portability, the lens is compact and light weight, weighing approximately 12.3 ounces. In addition, it features a dust- and splash-resistant body to withstand harsh conditions, even at 14ºF. It also employs a fluorine coating on the front element to repel water and oil.
Other features include a filter diameter of 67mm and a 9-blade circular aperture diaphragm.
The Panasonic Lumix S 20–60mm f/3.5–5.5 lens will reach retail the end of July. It will sell for $599.99.
