Jersey City, NJ—Sirui is adding two lenses to its full-frame anamorphic family. The debut of the Sirui 35mm 1.6x T2.9 and the 100mm 1.6x T2.9 now make it a four-lens set. The full-frame lineup is offered as a cost-effective alternative to name-brand full-frame anamorphic lenses.

In addition, the company introduced a 1.25x anamorphic adapter to increase the 1.6x to a 2x squeeze factor and also turn spherical lenses into anamorphic lenses.

The two new lenses have a lot in common with their older siblings in terms of specifications as well as features. Covering full-frame sensors, they are available with Canon RF, Leica L, Sony E and Nikon Z mounts. In addition, they provide blue lens flare and stretched oval bokeh effects.

Moreover, the 35mm is a unique focal length that’s wide enough to capture background elements but close enough to shoot intimate shots. Because of its versatility, photographers can use it in various situations, from landscapes to portraits and even some macro photography.

Conversely, the 100mm is a short telephoto lens that brings distant scenes and subjects closer. If photographers want to bring the background into the shot while highlighting the subject with focus, this lens will affect the relative size of the subject to the background and compress them together.

1.25x Anamorphic Adapter

The 1.25x anamorphic adapter increases the squeeze factor from 1.6x to 2x; it will also turn spherical lenses into anamorphic lenses. It has a standard 82mm rear thread to work with a range of lenses. If photographers have different diameter lenses, Sirui offers three step-down rings (67mm, 72mm, 77mm) and one step-up ring (92mm) to match the adapter with popular diameter filter threads.

With a length of only 1.8 inches and a weight of 23 ounces, the adapter is relatively small and lightweight. In addition, its minimum focus distance is 31 inches.

Photographers can focus with the adapter once the focus ring of the host lens is set to infinity. They need only line up the adapter with the base lens to get the desired horizontal flares.

Sirui is launching both new lenses along with the adapter via an Indiegogo campaign. The super early bird price for the 35mm T2.9 and 100mm T2.9 lenses is $1,279 each. It is $429 for the 1.25x anamorphic adapter.
