Commack, NY—Tamron announced it is developing the Tamron 35-150mm F2-2.8 Di III VXD (model A058) lens in the Nikon Z mount. The company will release the fast-aperture telephoto zoom lens in fall 2023. Moreover, the Sony E-mount version of the lens was previously launched in October 2021.

According to Tamron, it is the “world’s first [as of June 2023] mirrorless zoom lens with a maximum wide-open aperture of f/2 for Nikon Z-mount cameras.”

Tamron 35-150mm F2-2.8 Features

The 35–150mm f/2–2.8 lens covers wide-angle through telephoto focal ranges. As a result, it is a solution for travel as well as portrait photography. Moreover, the lens also incorporates Tamron’s VXD (voice-coil eXtreme-torque drive) linear motor focus mechanism. Consequently, it provides very high-speed and high-precision autofocus for a fast-aperture lens. It also incorporates a new design to enhance operability and ergonomic convenience.

With a versatile focal range and the ability to perform under a variety of shooting conditions, the lens is primarily an option for travelers creating photographic works. Users can enjoy shooting vistas and large buildings at 35mm as well as dynamic close-up shots at 150mm.

Furthermore, because it incorporates the most frequently used focal lengths from wide-angle and standard to medium telephoto and telephoto in a single lens, the all-in-one zoom eliminates the need to swap lenses. This is beneficial when shooting portraits where a sense of rhythm is particularly important.

In addition, the new lens is compatible with Tamron Lens Utility software. The lens also features moisture-resistant construction; a fluorine coating to resist dirt/smudges as well as facilitate cleaning; and a hood locking mechanism.

Tamron will release further specifications and pricing closer to launch.
