Huntington Beach, CA—Kenko Tokina Co., Ltd., released the Tokina atx-m 11-18mm F2.8 E for Sony E-mount (APS-C) cameras. Moreover, the atx-m 11–18mm f/2.8 E is the first superwide-angle zoom lens in Tokina’s product lineup that’s exclusively for mirrorless cameras.

The new lens features a fast f/2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range. Further it offers the equivalent of a 17–27mm zoom lens stored in a compact and lightweight body for hybrid users who shoot stills and video.

The zoom lens is also fully compatible with Sony camera functions. They include image stabilization, direct manual focus, MF assist and optical corrections.

Further, with a compact internal-focusing design and versatile focal length, the Tokina atx-m 11–18mm f/2.8 E is a solution for shooting landscapes, group photos, environmental portraits, architecture, automobile photography, street snaps, documentary videos and vlogging.

Its 11–18mm superwide-angle zoom will capture dynamic landscapes and architecture. In addition, the lens’s fast f/2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range produces a shallower depth of field, while a 9-blade rounded diaphragm creates a soft bokeh background.

At less than 3 inches long and weighing in at about 12 ounces, the portable, lightweight lens is easily carried while traveling. In addition, it is compact enough to attach to gimbals.

Constructed of 13 elements in 11 groups, the lens uses two aspherical and two super low-dispersion glass elements to suppress chromatic aberrations. With multicoatings, it also  achieves rich color reproduction, low distortion and low light falloff.

What’s more, its short minimum focusing distance of 7.5 inches allows it to create unique wide-angle macro images with perspective effect. The lens also employs a silent ST-M motor unit for fast and precise autofocusing operation during still and video modes. Finally, a Micro USB port (Type B) enables firmware updates.
