Anhui, China—Venus Optics introduced the Laowa 14mm F4 FF RL Zero–D lens for full–frame mirrorless cameras. It is touted as one of the smallest and lightest 14mm zero–distortion ultrawide–angle lenses. The lens also has a 52mm filter thread so urban explorers can put on a screw–in filter and make creative images.
Laowa 14mm F4 FF RL Zero–D Main Features
The new lens delivers image sharpness with a 114° angle of view. The ultrawide–angle lens allows photographers to create pictures in an ultrawide perspective. Landscape photographers can also capture rich scenery with a single shot.Â
In addition, the 14mm f/4 FF RL Zero–D is composed of 13 elements in 9 groups. Its two aspherical elements and three extra–low dispersion (ED) elements suppress the distortion to nearly a zero level from corner to corner. Subsequently, the lens is a solution for architecture photography, as any straight lines are retained.
Conveniently, photographers can also take landscape and cityscape pictures without carrying filter holders. For photographers who opt to use slide–in filters, a specially designed magnetic filter holder allows them to use their 100mm–wide filters with no vignetting.
Additional Features
Moreover, a 5–bladed aperture creates 10–point sunstar rendering. Photographers can stop down the aperture by 1 stop to create the 10-point sunstars. In addition, for astrophotographers, an aperture of f/4 is possible for capturing images of the sky in the Milky Way.
