Shen Yang, China—Zhong Yi Optics (ZY Optics) introduces the L-mount Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95 lens. It joins the Sony FE, Canon R, Nikon Z and Leica M mounts currently available. This is the first f/0.95 lens for full-frame mirrorless L-mount cameras, such as the Sigma fp, Panasonic S1 and S1H, and Leica SL and SL2.
“An enchanting and dreamy ambience is created with our 50mm f/0.95 at its maximum aperture,” the company announced. “Being one of the faster lenses in the market, shallow depth of field enables a perfect separation of main subject and background. Soft and enticing bokeh is formed in the picture, adding an additional romantic sense to the picture.”

What’s more, a 9-round iris design allows the lens to create sought-after round-shape bokeh. In addition, the lens is constructed of 11 elements in 8 groups to improve image quality as well as bring high definition and contrast even at the wide-open aperture. Furthermore, an extra-low dispersion element reduces color fringing and chromatic aberrations.
For low-light and night environment shooting, the 50mm f/0.95 lens can reproduce light sources consistently over the entire frame, without coma flare. The f/0.95 fast aperture also excels in night photography.
In addition, the lens boasts metal with delicate workmanship to enable durability as well as operability. It also features an evenly scaled aperture control ring and clear markings on the lens body.
Moreover, videographers can take advantage of a de-clicked aperture ring for a smooth transition of exposure control. Further, a close-to-360º long focus throw allows greater precision in adjustment of the focus point. Another feature is the popular 67mm filter thread size, so photographers can attach screw-in filters.
The ZY Optics Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95 in an L mount is available for a suggested retail price of $799.
