Upper Saddle River, NJ—Bowens, a manufacturer of photographic lighting systems, launched its Generation X flash unit lineup, marking a renaissance for the legacy lighting manufacturer. Manfrotto Distribution distributes Bowens products in the United States.
Generation X comprises two new flash systems: the XMT, an all-in-one battery unit for location lighting; as well as the XMS, units engineered to be the go-to system for photographers who need a function-rich flash in the studio.
“Generation X is just the first step in relaunching Bowens to the imaging world,” said David Hollingsworth, marketing manager. “These barrier-breaking new products combine state-of-the-art technology and cutting-edge design and are the result of many months of very intense market research and product development. Furthermore, they will be the vanguard of our plans for ongoing and regular new unit rollouts in coming months and years. New-look Bowens is creating beautifully designed and engineered products, tailored to our customers’ needs.”
The Generation X 500Ws XMT boasts TTL as well as high-speed sync functionality (up to 1/8,000s). This makes it compatible with Canon, Nikon and also Sony cameras. The XMS, available in 500, 750 and 1000Ws models, all controllable via the XMSR 2.4 GHz radio control and trigger, features multi-voltage operation. In addition, the units offer faster recycling times and flash durations. The XMSR model also includes Bowens’ sync offset functionality that’s designed to enable photographers to embrace any brand of camera to shoot at high sync speeds—up to 1/8,000s.
