Melville, NY—Canon USA, Inc., introduced a new tool to enhance photograhers’ creativity. The Canon Speedlite EL-1 is a next-generation professional speedlight; it provides higher performance and reliability compared to previous models. Its features include a new rechargeable Li-ion battery and a newly designed user-friendly interface.
“As an extended form of expression, we understand that integrating a flash into your photography is an art form; having the right equipment to meet your artistic demands is imperative to client service,” said Tatsuro “Tony” Kano, executive vice president and general manager of the Canon USA, Inc. Imaging Technologies & Communications Group.
“We’re excited to bring the Speedlite EL-1 into our product catalog; it continues to offer photographers, who are experts in their field, the right high-quality professional imaging tools of the trade.”
Canon Speedlite EL-1
The Canon Speedlite EL-1 works seamlessly with EOS cameras. Moreover, it is a solution for any photographer who works in portrait, still life, wedding or in-studio photography. In addition, the lighting device is an option for those photographers who work for news agencies and red carpet events, as well as entertainment reporters.
With durability and reliability at the core of its newest features, the EL-1 employs a rechargeable Li-ion battery pack that provides a high-speed recycle time. As a result, it increases the number of flashes available while using the Canon LC-E6 battery charger.
Also new is a Xenon glass flashtube that achieves higher accuracy and more durability of the flash head. In addition, the speedlight offers an increased continuous firing number of approximately 170. This is due to a new active cooling system.
It also integrates wireless second-curtain sync. Other new features include a joystick; FE one-touch memory; an LED modeling lamp; and a user interface display design.
What’s more, the Speedlite EL-1 provides an expanded power range for versatility of exposure with “micro flash” minimum flash output as low as 1/8192 power. Furthermore, a zoom flash head covers a wide focal length range of 24–200mm; a bounce angle expanded to 120°; and the same level of weather sealing comparable with the EOS-1D camera series.
Canon also included two color filters and a bounce adapter for additional lighting control.
The Canon Speedlite EL-1 is scheduled for in-store availability in February 2021. It will have a suggested retail price of $1,099.
