Valhalla, NY—Fujifilm North America Corporation’s X-A3 mirrorless, interchangeable-lens camera has a 3-inch, 1,040K-dot, 180º tilting touch LCD to facilitate easy selfies. It also features 11 film simulations and 10 filters to give them a unique look.

Its retro-styled body houses a new 24.2 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and processor. As a result, the pair is said to produce “crisp images in a wide range of shooting conditions, and excel in naturally reproducing skin tones, textures and colors.”

Design to appeal to a younger generation, the X-A3’s top cover, front plate and top dials are made of aluminum. And faux leather accents offer an enhanced texture. Furthermore, the X-A3 grip accommodates normal shooting and selfies.

The camera’s rear LCD uses a touch screen to control touch AF (autofocus), touch shoot and touch zoom. This function can be controlled with pinch-out finger gestures to zoom in and out. The LCD also employs a slide-and-tilt mechanism so that it’s not blocked by the camera body when tilted 180º. As a result, users can view the entire screen for selfie composition.

When taking selfies, shooters can focus and release the shutter by pressing the vertical command dial below the index finger, minimizing camera shake. And the new self-timer offers smile detection, buddy timer and group timer modes. The shutter is automatically released when subjects smile, two people come close together, or a specified number of people come into the frame.

Other X-A3 Features

Additionally, the camera has a sensitivity range of ISO 200–6,400, with extended settings to 25,600. It also employs 49-point AF in single point mode, as well as zone and wide/tracking modes with 77-point focus areas. Release priority/focus priority AF and AF+MF functions also are available.

Other features include in-camera RAW processing; panorama and time-lapse functions; and Wi-Fi for transfer and remote camera operation.

The Fujifilm X-A3 kit with the XC16–50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS II lens ships in October for $599.95. It will come in silver, brown and pink versions. fujifilmusa.com
