Canon Solutions America Created to Integrated Océ Units & Business Solutions

Canon Solutions America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon USA, was launched effective January 1, 2013, integrating the business operations of Canon Business Solutions, Inc., Océ North America, Inc., and Océ Imagistics, Inc. The new company will provide sales and support for Canon and Océ hardware, software and services targeting large-format, production print and general office markets in the U.S.

“I am very pleased that the integration of the Canon and Océ businesses is nearly complete,” said Joe Adachi, president and CEO of Canon USA, who is chairman and CEO of Canon Solutions America. “We have worked very hard these past three years to make sure our goal of creating the overall leading presence in the imaging industry will be realized. Canon Solutions America and the other companies formed by the integration will be better positioned to meet the growing demands of customers locally, regionally and nationally by capitalizing on the strengths of each company and maintaining the superior service levels that customers require.”

Canon Solutions America headquarters are located on Long Island, New York, with offices throughout the U.S., including existing key Océ wide-format printing systems and production printing systems locations in Chicago, Illinois, and Boca Raton, Florida.

As part of the Company's overall integration efforts, Canon U.S.A. also announced that Océ Business Services, Inc., a provider of digital document management technology, outsourcing and business process consulting services, will change its name to Canon Business Process Services, Inc. on January 1, 2013. Canon Business Process Services, Inc., headquartered in New York, will be headed by Joe Marciano, currently the president and CEO of Océ Business Services. Canon Business Process Services' new name is a reflection of the changing nature of the office technology market and the increasing importance being placed on effective design and management of critical business processes and related workflow.

Additionally, Océ Financial Services, Inc. merged into Canon Financial Services, Inc., on January 1, 2013, further expanding Canon’s ability to support the leasing and financing needs of customers. Mutoh America Updates VSM Mobile App
Phoenix-based large-format printer manufacturer Mutoh America released version 1.03 of its ValueJet Status Monitor (VSM) mobile app. Updates include a new design and a feature that lets users remotely control the printer panel. Exclusively for use with the latest Mutoh ValueJet printers, VSM Mobile version 1.03 is free and available for iPhone and Android devices.

With VSM Mobile, users can check the status of their Mutoh large-format printer and receive notifications of problems in real-time animation on their handheld device. VSM Mobile also has an output status feature that lets users view current print job process, ink level status, printer status, such as “open covers” and “lever up” notifications, and e-mail alerts of low ink levels and full waste tanks.

After registering a new printer on VSM Mobile, the status of the printer can be checked from a smartphone. Printer functions are monitored by VSM to ensure the printer is providing consistent output and notifies the operator via e-mail or smartphone if there is a problem. VSM Mobile version 1.03 is currently available online for select ValueJet printers and requires VSM version 3.04 to be installed. mutoh.com

HP Indigo Certified Mondi Paper Now Available in North America
HP Indigo sites throughout North America now have access to Mondi’s HP Indigo certified uncoated papers. DotworksMedia, in Long Island, New York, will serve as the distributor for Mondi HP Indigo certified papers.

Mondi worked closely with HP to develop two fully certified, uncoated Indigo papers: Color Copy indigo, an extra smooth paper for full-color printing such as invitations and photo books; and DNS indigo, a high-white paper designed with a natural touch and feel, for text, graphics and color printing such as books, promo materials and catalogs.

“Paper manufacturers that are making it are succeeding in straddling the line between their traditional business and the different requirements of digital printers,” said DotworksMedia’s general manager, Daniel “Dani” Herzka. “Mondi personnel have impressed us with their knowledge and deep commitment to innovative product development for the digital printing market.”

Mondi’s digital printing papers are tailored to meet the needs of printing professionals. An example includes the company’s extended offering of heavier weight options. Mondi’s goal was to reduce cover weights without compromising quality or stiffness; thereby reducing logistical and transportation burdens—and more importantly, postage. Both Color Copy indigo and DNS indigo are available in 110 lb. cover weights that meet the quality of higher weight substrates. All Mondi uncoated fine papers belong to the Green Range of papers that are FSC or PEFC certified, 100% recycled or bleached entirely without chlorine. paper@dotworksmedia.com

Océ Adds Four Models to Arizona 400 UV Flatbed Printer Series

The Océ Arizona 400 series of UV flatbed printers now includes the Océ Arizona 460 GT, Océ Arizona 460 XT, Océ Arizona 440 GT and Océ Arizona 440 XT printers. These printers join the Océ Arizona 480 GT and 480 XT models introduced in October 2012.

The Arizona 400 printers feature four, six or eight independent ink channels in two flatbed sizes, providing a range of application capabilities and capacity to suit mid-volume print providers. And as a provider’s needs change, an upgrade path is available.

The new models employ Océ VariaDot technology, developed to produce near-photographic quality with sharpness equivalent to 1,440 dpi or higher. Text as small as 2 points is legible, even when reverse-printed. And Active Pixel Placement Compensation helps assure image sharpness, density and uniformity, wherever it is printed on the flatbed or on the roll media. Also featured is a batch mode that supports multilayered jobs requiring multiple passes for specialty applications.

Arizona 460 GT and 460 XT printers have six ink channels with the first four configured for standard CMYK. Channels five and six can be configured for varnish + white print services or double-white. Océ Arizona 440 GT and 440 XT include CMYK ink channels only. Arizona 400 GT models offer the standard table size of 49.2×98.4 inches; the Arizona 400 XT models, the extra-large table size of 98.4×120 inches. Both can print on rigid media up to 2.0 inches thick, and a roll media option is available on flexible media up to 86.6 inches wide. oceusa.com
