Melville, NY—As video content continues to absorb our attention for work and leisure, Canon USA introduced the PowerShot V10 vlog camera. It’s the first product in the company’s new PowerShot V (V= Video Communication) camera series for consumer video production, livestreaming and vlogging.

The PowerShot V10 vlog camera is aimed at on-the-go content creators who want to level up their creative content and step up from using a smartphone. The integrated-lens, compact point-and-shoot camera has an intuitive user interface on its touch panel and frame AF mode for product reviews.

Canon says there’s no shortage of usage cases for the PowerShot V10 vlog camera. It’s not only an option for vlogging, livestreaming and various forms of video production, but it’s also a solution for travel photography.

The camera is compact, measuring 2.5×3.5×1.4 inches and weighing 7.4 ounces. Moreover, it includes a handy built-in stand and a port for a tripod.

Notably, you can easily connect the camera to a Wi-Fi router and output video directly to YouTube or Facebook platforms via the Camera Connect app. Plus, for those stepping up from smartphones, it is intuitive like a smartphone to make the transition fairly seamless.

In addition, its 1-inch, 15.2-megapixel CMOS image sensor shoots high-res stills as well as 4K UHD 30p and Full HD 60p video. Its sensor and Digic X processor also achieve low noise even in low light.

Further, the camera has a built-in 19mm-equivalent wide-angle lens that’s ideal for selfie taking. The lens offers an angle that is wide enough so you don’t have to outstretch your arm completely to record yourself.

What’s more, since sound is as crucial as video when vlogging, Canon included two large stereo microphones to capture your voice clearly. Plus, a third microphone helps cancel out unwanted sounds. As a result, no accessory microphones are needed.

The camera also offers smartphone-like handling with a vertical grip and easy one-handed operation. In addition, with its built-in stand you can lean the camera back or forward with 30º of angle. This function is ideal for table- or countertop recording.

You can even hold the camera by the handle upside down and it will reorient the video. If that isn’t enough, you can still use a traditional tripod or Canon’s HG-100TBR tripod grip.

Additional Features

As a fully functional still camera, the V10 provides auto photo mode, which is equivalent to A+ scene intelligent auto to set it and forget it. It also offers face detection and tap-based subjection selection. Plus, in addition to image stabilization, its face-tracking AF automatically detects and autofocuses on a person’s face.

Moreover, its 2-inch, 460K-dot LCD touchscreen enables touch shutter and menu selections. It also operates in both horizontal and vertical orientations.

Additionally, the PowerShot V10 has 14 color filters built in to change the mood and ambiance of the scene. There is also an automatic ND filter (neutral density), which helps darken a video without affecting the colors. This also helps the camera avoid using really fast shutter speeds that can result in  jerky motions on-screen 

The PowerShot V10 works with a free companion app, Canon Camera Connect, that lets you communicate with a smartphone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Using the app, you can transfer content to share on social media, as well as control the camera remotely and livestream.
