Integrating a stylish design with intuitive operation, the S80 boasts a bright, large 3.5-inch color OLED touchscreen with an enhanced user interface. It enables easy touch control over the camera’s key functions for smooth operation, including touch shutter shooting, zoom and playback. Further, to help you better compose your photos, the S80 employs tab-type graphics to maximize screen space without cluttering it with icons. Plus, with a wide 180º viewing angle, brightness control and an antireflection coating, the touchscreen also makes it easy to compose, view and share photos and HD (720p) movies.

Moreover, measuring 0.7-inch, you can slip the S80 into a pocket or bag. What’s more, sliding the lens cover turns the camera on/off, while creating a sleek, modern look. The S80 also lets you add personal touches to photos with its paint function. You can write or draw on images during playback! Its retouch menu also lets you adjust images in-camera with the touch of a finger. You can choose from a range of functions: color options, soft focus, selective color, cross screen, miniature effect as well as fisheye effect. In playback mode, you can even add moving stamps for an animated effect.

Key Features

Packed into the super-slim compact are also a 14.1-megapixel CCD sensor and a wide-angle, 5x optical zoom, 35–175mm-equivalent Nikkor ED glass lens. The S80 also helps reduce camera shake with a 5-way vibration reduction (VR) image stabilization system. It includes optical and hybrid VR, motion detection and ISO settings to 6400. It also features a best shot selector, which automatically takes 10 shots while the shutter-release button is pressed and saves the sharpest.

Adding to the fun is a built-in slide show function that plays back photos to preset music. In addition, an HDMI output enables playback of photos and videos on an HDTV for big-screen viewing. Rounding out the camera’s features are 17 scene modes and easy auto mode. This mode automatically recognizes the shooting situation and adjusts camera settings accordingly. Plus, Nikon’s smart portrait system incorporates automatic functions like in-camera red-eye fix, improved face-priority AF, a smile timer, blink warning, blink proof and skin softening.
