Valhalla, NY—Fujifilm North America Corporation’s newest XP-series point-and-shoot camera, the FinePix XP200, offers an improved 16 megapixel CMOS sensor for enhanced image quality, a reinforced 5x Fujinon lens and rugged construction that is waterproof to 50 feet, shockproof to withstand a fall of 6.6 feet, freezeproof to 14°F and dustproof. The XP200 also has a newly redesigned battery door lock with double seals for enhanced protection.

“The new XP200 is the ultimate outdoor camera for every extreme athlete and outdoor enthusiast who wants to capture their adventures and share them quickly and easily online,” said David Troy, Director, Marketing, Digital Cameras, Electronic Imaging, Fujifilm North America Corporation. “By creating a camera that handles serious depths, ice, sand and drops, the XP200 is designed to inspire confidence and deliver clear, sharp images and full HD video wherever you go.”

The camera’s 16MP CMOS sensor with CMOS shift image stabilization is engineered to capture clear images even in challenging low-light conditions, while its internal 5x optical zoom, 28-140mm Fujinon lens allows users to get close to the action, even under water. And intelligent digital zoom is said to double the zoom range to 10x while still offering image quality.

The XP200’s wireless feature lets users transfer photos and movies to smartphones, tablets and computers and then upload images to social networking sites. To connect the XP200 to a smartphone/tablet, users can download the free Fujifilm Camera application to their iPhone/iPad or Android smartphone or tablet to transfer up to 30 pictures at a time from the XP200. The app also lets users download movies. And photographers can back up photos on their home computers once they install the free Fujifilm PC AutoSave software onto the computer and select which folder they want the photos to back up to; then by linking a Wi-Fi router and the XP200, the camera will automatically back up photos to the computer.

The FinePix XP200 also boasts two high-speed shooting modes: 10-frames-per-second continuous shooting mode at full resolution (max 9 frames); and ultra-high-speed continuous shooting at up to 60 fps (max 70 frames in 16:9, S size only). The camera is equipped with a dedicated burst mode button on the top of its body so users can utilize this mode without having to go through menu options.

Other features include: a 3.0-inch, 920k-dot LCD with antireflective coatings and auto-brightness adjustment; Full HD 1080i (60 fps) movie capture; high-speed movie recording at 240 fps for slow motion playback; in-camera movie editing, including movie join to pull together multiple video clips into a single movie; pop color, toy camera, miniature, partial color, soft focus, high key and cross screen digital filters; high-speed multi-frame processing that records two shots or more at different exposures and combines them to achieve High Dynamic Range (HDR) images with natural contrast that preserves details in the highlights and shadows; motion panorama 360 to create a 360º panoramic shot; and individual shutter 3D, a function that creates images with a 3D effect by combining two shots taken from slightly different angles.

Fujifilm’s FinePix XP200 will be available in May 2013 for an SRP of $299.95 in a choice of black, yellow, blue and red bodies. fujifilmusa.com
