Valhalla, NY—Early this year at the 2012 CES, Fujifilm North America Corporation announced the highly portable long-zoom FinePix JZ250 and JZ100, which are both now available at retail.

The easy-to-use cameras offer fast start-up and autofocus speeds, Fujinon 8x zoom lenses (25-200mm), optical image stabilization and 720p HD movie recording at 30 frames per second.

Aimed at the budget conscious looking for a compact long-zoom, the FinePix JZ250 and JZ100 have wide-ranging lenses that enable users to capture everything from wide-angle shots to images of distant objects, as well as providing a close-focusing distance of 5cm to shoot macro images.

The JZ250 has a 16 megapixel CCD sensor, an 8x Fujinon optical zoom lens (25-200mm) and a 3.0-inch LCD that has been brightened for 2012, along with Li-Ion battery power. The 14MP FinePix JZ100 offers the same 8x Fujinon optical zoom lens with a 2.7-inch LCD and rechargeable Li-Ion battery.

Utilizing a dedicated movie recording button, users of both cameras can capture 720p HD movies that are viewable on any HD ready television (or home PC), using the optional HD Player (HDP-L1) accessory kit with wireless remote (HDMI cable not included).

Other JZ-series features include: a flash control system designed to efficiently control the level of flash for a given exposure; smile detection that recognizes the moment a subject smiles and releases the shutter only when this happens; blink detection that warns if any subjects have blinked so the photo can be retaken; face detection (10 faces) and automatic red-eye removal to help provide perfectly exposed and focused portrait shots; scene recognition auto mode that intelligently identifies the scene type and necessary shooting conditions to optimize picture potential; tracking autofocus that tracks fast-moving subjects so they don’t escape from the frame in a blur; and image search that allows users to find all images taken in a particular scene mode, for example, portraits.

The FinePix JZ250 and JZ100 retail for $149.95 and $129.95, respectively, in black bodies. fujifilmusa.com
