Teaneck, NJ—Leica Camera AG will launch the new Leica D-Lux 8 compact camera this July. In The German premium camera/lens manufacturer first introduced the D-Lux in 2003. Eight generations and numerous special editions later, the D-Lux has solidified its position in the top segment of Leica’s digital compact cameras.


“The new D-Lux 8 brings the quintessential Leica experience into a more compact and accessible form. The overall user experience and iconic design are a testament to the excellence of the legendary Leica brand, recognized globally as a leader in the field,” the company announced.

For more enhanced user comfort, Leica has simplified the controls and ergonomically repositioned them. Moreover, the user interface, inspired by the Leica Q cameras, is now more user-friendly. The D-Lux 8 features a 4/3″ CMOS image sensor that offers 22 megapixels (effective 17MP). The camera also boasts an integrated fast Leica DC Vario-Summilux 10.9–34 f/1.7–2.8 Asph lens (24–75mm equivalent).


In addition, the point-and-shoot camera has an overall more intuitive design and connectivity with the Leica FOTOS app. It is also the first D-Lux that features the versatile DNG file format. What’s more, the flash included with the camera further expands its versatility.

Furthermore, in addition to the new camera, Leica will launch a range of accessories. These include a hand grip, carrying straps, wrist straps as well as leather protectors. The company will make them available in multiple colors. Additional accessories such as an automatic lens cap, soft release buttons and a selection of bags, including a hip bag, crossbody bag and equipment bag, will expand the camera’s portfolio.


Leica will make the Leica D-Lux 8 available globally beginning July 2, 2024. It will have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $1,595.
