Center Valley, PA—Olympus announced the Stylus SP-820UZ iHS—its flagship ultrazoom compact camera with its most powerful optical zoom yet, to magnify subjects up to 40x and capture the detail normally possible only with an interchangeable telephoto lens.
With Super-Resolution Zoom technology, the focus distance is doubled to 80x, while the camera’s 22.4mm super-wide-angle lens (22.4-896mm equivalent) takes in sweeping panoramas, group portraits and up-close macro images.
Designed to be an everyday companion, the SP-820UZ iHS is lightweight and compact with a sleek housing and ergonomic grip engineered to help keep it steady even when shooting at high magnification.
Olympus incorporated a 3.0-inch LCD, its iHS (intelligent, high-sensitivity and high-speed) technologies, a high-sensitivity 14 megapixel CMOS sensor and TruePic V image processor. High-speed, adjustable-frame rate 1080p Full HD and High-Speed Video (240-fps HSQVGA) recording captures video, and a photo with video clip mode captures a video clip before and after a shot is taken.
To minimize shake, even when the shooter is moving, there are dual image stabilization and multi-motion movie image stabilization. And Linear PCM audio recording is said to enhance videos with better-than-CD-quality audio.
Other features include: handheld starlight mode, which captures multiple images and stitches them together into a single, crisp photo for night and low-light conditions without the use of a tripod; HDR backlight adjustment, which captures a collage of images at various exposure levels and blends them into one, perfectly exposed image; beauty makeup mode, which allows users to apply everything from eyeliner to eye shadow and blush in-camera; smart panorama mode (when a photographer pans across a subject, a series of images simultaneously knit together up to a 360° field of view); magic art filters; HDMI output and control; and Eye-Fi wireless card compatibility.
