Secaucus, NJ—Panasonic, an Official Television, Home Entertainment and Imaging sponsor of the US Open, announced its plans for the 2012 US Open Tennis Championships, which runs from August 27 through September 9 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York.
Panasonic is featuring three separate environments located in key locations throughout the tennis center, each offering a different experience for tennis fans. And this year for the first time, the company’s sponsorship expands to include its line of Lumix digital cameras and the installation of 15 large-screen HD displays in public areas throughout the venue.
In the Panasonic Gallery, located on the ground level of Louis Armstrong Stadium, Panasonic is again displaying the latest large-screen Smart Viera HDTVs, through which consumers are able to share the court with a Virtual Mardy Fish, experience Full HD 3D and see how Panasonic technology keeps them connected via Viera Connect web services that include Skype, Facebook and Twitter.
With the debut in 2012 of Lumix cameras to the US Open sponsorship, fans have the opportunity to capture and share their own US Open experiences through the Panasonic Lumix Loaner program. Attendees who visit the Panasonic South Booth Plaza in front of Court 10 can borrow one of four Lumix models for use on-site throughout their time at the tennis center. The foursome of Lumix camera models includes: the GF5 with fast autofocus and the ability to automatically recommend creative effects with a touch-enabled display; the LX7 with an f/1.4 Leica lens and a new 3.0-inch display; the FZ200 with a fast f/2.8, 25-600mm zoom lens and 12 frames-per-second bursts; and the ZS19 with a 20x optical zoom to draw subjects up close and an autofocus speed of 0.1 second.
Panasonic is also giving US Open fans who visit the Panasonic booth located at the Food Village an opportunity to Skype video chat with family and friends and catch them up on all of the happenings at the US Open directly from a Panasonic Viera plasma HDTV using Viera Connect, Panasonic’s connected TV platform. panasonic.com
