Newark, NJ—Panasonic is offering 10 exclusive designs for its sleek Lumix DMC-XS1 point-and-shoot compact. The camera combines a host of creative options in Panasonic’s slimmest body yet, measuring just .69-inch thin.
Each of the design patterns dress the DMC-XS1 for trend-conscious consumers. The patterns are based on the following six concepts: Pop Art, a cheerful design with colorful graphics; Gift Wrapping, a designed in the motif of colorful gift wrapping; Floral Nature, designed in the motif of plants and flowers; Digital, an urban design with digital typography; Texture, a fashion design with faux texture; and Japanese Traditional, a design with Japanese traditional Kanji characters.
In addition to being fashionable, the 16.1 megapixel Lumix DMC-XS1 is designed to deliver high-quality photos and video recording. It incorporates a retractable 24mm wide-angle, 5x optical zoom Lumix DC Vario lens (24–120mm equivalent) in an ultra-flat body profile made possible by Panasonic’s optical design and development technology.
A variety of special effects to add fun to the shooting experience are also provided, such as creative control, creative retouch and creative panorama. With a motion picture button on the top of the camera, 720p HD video recording can be started, and for beginners, iA (intelligent auto) mode allows users to leave everything to the camera. iA mode includes such automatic functions as Mega OIS (optical image stabilizer), intelligent ISO control, intelligent scene selector, intelligent exposure and face detection. Once iA mode is selected, these functions occur automatically, so that users can shoot without the concern of adjusting settings when conditions change.
Other features include auto retouch, which applies retouching to the photo to help improve its quality; a 2.7-inch TFT LCD screen; auto red-eye reduction; support for a microSD memory card; and AC/USB power charging.
