Pentax Joins Backpacker Magazine 2011 Get Out More Tour

Golden, CO—Pentax Imaging Company has joined a team of popular outdoor gear manufacturers sponsoring the 11th annual Backpacker magazine Get Out More Tour—an interactive mobile media and education tour that’s designed to inspire readers and encourage participation in active outdoor pursuits.

Backpacker’s Get Out More road team, starring Sheri and Randy Propster, will visit specialty outdoor retailers and festivals in almost 70 cities in 30 states to promote the active outdoor lifestyle and teach practical outdoor skills. The tour kicked off on April 7 at the Raleigh, North Carolina, REI store.

“We know that consumers who hold a Pentax are more likely to purchase one,” said Ned Bunnell, president, Pentax Imaging Company. “The Get Out More tour is ideal for us to introduce our adventureproof Optio WG-1 cameras, weather-resistant K-5 digital SLR and Papilio binoculars to consumers in 70 outdoor retailers in 30 states from now until December.”

At each retail stop on the tour, the Get Out More team will host a 75-minute seminar on trip planning, choosing the right outdoor gear and apparel, safety in the outdoors and more. The Propsters’ passion and extensive outdoor expertise will help educate retail customers about the skills, stewardship and equipment to get out more and enjoy outdoor adventure.
