Ridgefield Park, NJ—Samsung Electronics unveiled its MV800 MultiView camera, an ultra-compact point and shoot with a 3.0-inch touch-screen flip-out LCD display that helps shooters capture life’s moments from any angle.

In addition to capacitive touch screen technology, the camera provides other user-friendly features. It builds on the success of Samsung’s DualView technology and is its first compact to feature a wide flip-out touch-screen LCD designed in response to consumer demands for flexibility, ease-of-use, creativity and style.

The 3.0-inch screen tilts up and down so users can frame shots and view images from any perspective. And a built-in pose guide advises shooter on how to best get into position with line drawings on the LCD screen, so they can capture the optimum image from any angle.

For fashion-forward consumers, the device sports an ultra-slender design and contemporary metallic finish. The MV800 also provides 16.1 megapixels of resolution and a 5x, 26mm wide-angle optical zoom lens.

Its Smart Touch 3.0 user interface is said to be highly intuitive, and users can drag and scroll through menu options to launch the required feature with one touch. Smart Touch 3.0 also lets users customize their background image or wallpaper.

“Our aim is to continually be at the forefront of digital compact camera innovation and the Samsung MV800 is the embodiment of that goal,” said Myoung Sup Han, senior vice president and head of the Digital Imaging Business, Samsung Electronics. “The Samsung MV800’s unique ability to capture images from any angle, combined with its stylish and ultra-slim design demonstrates unparalleled Samsung innovation which we believe will appeal to every photographer, and establish a new benchmark for the industry.”

Other key functions include: live panorama to photograph large groups by holding down the shutter button, then previewing the scene that’s being captured via the LCD (when connected to a 3D HDTV, images and panoramic shots can be viewed in 3D); a magic frame feature with 12 background templates; picture-in-picture that lets users insert one image into another; 14 artistic effects smart filters, including the newly added water paint for a watercolor finish or the cartoon capability; and funny face, which allows users to bend, stretch and manipulate portraits by tapping and dragging to distort facial characteristics. For further customization, there’s a photo editor that permits users to edit and rotate images on the move, and beauty shot edits out any imperfections.

Additionally, utilizing storyboard maker, photographers can prepare a storyboard from the images they’ve shot by selecting the layout and then placing the photos in order. The Samsung MV800 also features HD recording capabilities, with a recording time of up to twice as long as standard MPEG-4. And its zoom noise-reduction technology aids in ensuring that the whirring of the zoom will not be recorded.

The Samsung MV800 MultiView compact retails for $279.99. samsung.com
