San Diego, CA—Sony Electronics added a camera to its ZV lineup for vloggers and livestreamers—the Sony ZV-1F compact vlog camera. The ZV-1F is for content creators who want to step up to a compact, point-and-shoot camera with advanced video and still capabilities along with ease of use and advanced connectivity.
“We’re thrilled to add the new ZV-1F to our very popular ZV camera lineup,” said Yang Cheng, vice president, Imaging Solutions, Sony Electronics Inc.
“With the rise of vertical video and new platforms that make it easier than ever to become a content creator, the ZV-1F is an all-in-one camera solution that delivers superior quality with easy-to-use features and wireless sharing. This is the perfect solution for content creators looking to improve their video quality.”
Sony ZV-1F Key Features
The ZV-1F captures high-quality content in a compact form factor. Weighing in at approximately 8.1 ounces, the camera employs a large, 1.0-type 20.1-megapixel Exmor RS CMOS sensor.
It also features an ultrawide 20mm-equivalent f/2.0 Zeiss Tessar T* lens for selfie-style recording. Moreover, the prime lens produces background bokeh in both stills and video to make the subject easily stand out.
In addition, the camera’s face priority AE (autoexposure) system automatically adjusts the brightness based on a subject’s face. And it does so even in situations with large changes in lighting.
Other advanced features include precision focusing and eye AF (autofocus) for humans and animals, with touchscreen operation. This is complemented by active mode image stabilization for steady and smooth footage.
Additional features that will appeal to vloggers are a directional 3-capsule mic with a wind screen for reduced background noise; and S&Q mode to shoot in slow motion at 5x slower speed and quick motion at 60x faster hyperlapse speed.
More Functions for Easy Creation
Sony also developed the ZV-1F for content creators of all levels, including those who are stepping up to a compact camera for the first time. Consequently, it offers functions for easy creation and streamlined editing. For instance, its 922K-dot, 3-inch vari-angle LCD touchscreen allows users to quickly change features and settings, including zoom.
Also beneficial to content creators are a background defocus function that quickly blurs the background, even while recording video; a product showcase setting that automatically shifts focus between a face and products; and a self-timer for both stills and video.
There’s also a recording lamp as well as a red frame on the screen to indicate when recording has started and stopped. In addition, users can select from 10 preset creative looks to automatically add a specific look. What’s more, a soft skin effect function adds skin smoothing options.
Notably, the camera’s shot mark function references key clips or cuts out and transfers specific 15-, 30- or 60-second marked clips to a user’s smartphone. It will post them directly to social media platforms without editing.
The ZV-1F is also compatible with the GP-VPT2BT shooting grip/tripod with wireless Bluetooth control. Plus, an accessory shoe lets users attach an external microphone. Furthermore, users can access remote camera control capabilities and simple file transfer for sharing to social platforms with Sony’s new Imaging Edge Mobile Plus smartphone application.
Additionally, the camera will function as a livestreaming device or web camera, with appropriate video streaming or conference application software, when connected to a computer or smartphone via USB.
Green Features
What’s more, the ZV-1F is made from recycled materials. SORPLAS are used in both the camera body and bundled accessories, like the newly developed wind screen. Further, plant-based non-woven fabrics are used for product bags to reduce disposable plastic packaging.
The Sony ZV-1F has a suggested retail price of $499.99.Â
