The Brother VC-500W is an easy-to-use, compact photo and label printer that lets consumers print from smartphones/tablets, in full color. With ZINK Zero Ink technology, it doesn’t require ink, enabling the printer to maintain a compact size. In addition, printed photos and labels don’t need to dry before handling.

For businesses, the printer provides the ability to capitalize on the spike in flexible packaging. Users can print full-color labels tailored for photos, specific branding and stickers. It prints up to 17 inches long in a single pass without ink cartridges, ribbons or toners. ZINK paper comes in five widths and can be printed up to a length of 17 inches.

“We’ve seen the phenomenal impact of tweens and millennials’, who rely on image-based social media platforms, demand for instant print images grow exponentially every day,” said Chaim Pikarski, ZINK CEO. “However, it’s also important to note how businesses now comprehend and are embracing the utility of instant label printing for an evolving market, which now extends well beyond the selfie generation.”

Moreover, the absence of ink cartridges and ribbons aligns ZINK paper with the needs of on-the-go smartphone photographers. They are looking for compact devices. ZINK paper embeds all the colors required for photo printing. The paper is water, tear and smudge resistant. It also has an adhesive backing for creating stickers that adhere to most surfaces.

“Today’s world is inherently mobile, and both business and consumer users want portable technology that lets them capture and share their memories in a simplistic yet high-quality manner,” said Bob Brady, senior manager of Product Marketing at Brother. “This ZINK-powered addition to Brother’s portfolio is a direct response to our customers’ need for a small, lightweight compact color printer that works in both business and personal scenarios.”

ZINK Holdings

ZINK Holdings LLC is a privately held company headquartered in Billerica, Massachusetts, that invented ZINK Zero Ink technology. The ZINK system is a full-color printing system that eliminates the need for ink cartridges or ribbons; all the color required for printing an image is embedded in the paper.Brother-ZERO-Ink

In the past 12 months, ZINK’s global market share grown. Moreover, so has the use cases for its technology. In addition, Brother joins Canon, HP, Polaroid, Kodak as well as Lifeprint as anchor consumer brands that leverage ZINK technology in their devices.

“Industry innovators like Brother understand their customers want convenient yet high-quality products, and the VC-500W is exactly that,” said J.C. Van Dijk, president, ZINK Holdings. zink.com
