Valhalla, NY—Fujifilm North America Corporation announced the Instax Share SP-3 SQ printer. It is the latest product in the Instax Share series of printers that print photos taken with a smartphone on Instax Square film.
The SP-3 was developed to give users more ways to get creative with their instant pictures that can be shared both in-person and online with #myinstax.
The square format is widely popular among smartphone users. “With a 1:1 aspect ratio, this format is an effective artistic style and a long-standing favorite among photography lovers,” Fujifilm announced. Recent years have seen a rise in the sharing of square photos on social media platforms, such as Instagram. With the SP-3, users can print high-quality square images in 13 seconds.
Updated Share App
The improved Share app now comes with additional features to make each step easier. Moreover, the app’s display screens have been designed to make the entire process simple for novice users.
Users can print up to nine photos on one sheet using the new collage template, a feature enabled by the square format of the SP-3. Or they can use the my template function to add text to printed photos. In addition, this feature provides 11 templates that range from magazine covers to CD jackets.
With the free app, users can also adjust the color and size of text. Another new app template is split template, which transforms one picture into multiple Instax photos. This allows users, for instance, to divide a scenic landscape across two Instax photos to make one big print.
In addition, the SNS template is for printing images that were uploaded to a social networking service (SNS). This social media-linked printing feature permits users to include their profile photo or number of likes in the photo. Finally, when the real-time template is selected and a photo is taken, the date, place, weather, temperature as well as humidity are indicated in the frame.
Hashtag Print Feature
In addition to Instagram and Facebook, the app is compatible with Dropbox, Google Photos and Flickr. Through the hashtag print option, users can also access Instagram directly through the app and select images under a chosen hashtag. This enables them to more easily find the photos they want to print, particularly a collection of photos from a specific event.
Key Instax Share SP-3 SQ Features
The SP-3 comes in a choice of white or black bodies with a sleek, multi-sided form factor. The printer is compact as well as lightweight. Furthermore, the SP-3 can print directly from Fujifilm X-series digital cameras. It produces images with print pixels of 800×800 dots and 318 dpi to show detailed gradations and even facial expressions of full-length portraits.
Moreover, it provides a printing capacity of up to 160 prints per battery charge. It also incorporates Image Intelligence, a proprietary image-processing technology that automatically sets the optimum brightness during printing.
Fujifilm’s Instax Share SP-3 SQ printer will be available in November for a suggested retail price of $199.95. Instax Square film is sold separately for $16.99. fujifilmusa.com
