Portland, OR—The latest version of ON1 Software’s photo-editing software, ON1 Photo RAW 2023.5, will launch in early June. The release will include all the improvements in the new ON1 Resize 2023.5 integrated into Photo RAW. The company also added enhanced features and an improved user experience.

ON1 Photo RAW 2023.5 Upgrades
Integration of the new Resize AI function is one of the most significant updates to ON1 Photo RAW 2023.5. This update includes the new Face Recovery AI tech model that detects faces and enhances faces with realistic detail. As a result, it is a solution for upscaling old photos or cropping a person or headshot out of an image and upscaling it to super-resolution.
In addition, users can turn this feature on or off for each face. They can also control the overall strength to blend best with the original photo.
The release also includes AI-based noise reduction for photos with high noise or JPG artifacts. What’s more, the new Face Recovery AI feature will integrate into the software’s nondestructive workflow in the Edit module. Consequently, users can more easily reconstruct a face from modest details to realistic features and textures.
Furthermore, the RAW processing engine was upgraded with new processing algorithms to create more natural shadows, fewer edge artifacts and more predictable slider adjustments. Plus, ON1 says it greatly improved the Refine Mask brush, making it much better in challenging areas like hair and tree branches.
Another new feature is the Encircle option in the Refine Mask tool. It allows users to draw around the borders of an object or region to add or subtract from a mask. Or they can create a new detailed mask with the stroke of a brush.
More Release Improvements
Other improvements in ON1 Photo RAW 2023.5 include two new options for Mask AI. They will simplify creating masks of the foreground and background in photos of people and animals.
Additionally, the Curves control in the Effects module now includes a dropper tool to set and adjust points directly in the photo. Further, zooming and panning the preview as well as adjusting tool properties such as brush size are now accomplished simultaneously with the scroll wheel for a faster, more natural workflow.
Finally, the release includes support for new cameras and lenses. It also incorporates bug fixes and several new enhancements to improve overall performance.
A license for ON1 Photo RAW 2023.5 is available now at an introductory price of $79.99 for new customers (reg $99.99) and $59.99 for an upgrade from a previous version (reg $79.99). Customers will receive version 2023.1 today and a free update to 2023.5 when it releases in early June.
Photo RAW is also available as part of the ON1 Everything Subscription. The subscription includes all the ON1 editing applications as well as plug-ins for Photoshop, Lightroom, Capture One, Affinity, Corel PSP and Apple Photos.
