PNY Adds 256GB microSDXC Memory Card

Consumers can store 46 hours of HD video on a microSD card.

Parsippany, NJ—PNY Technologies debuted their first microSDXC flash memory card featuring a 256-gigabyte (GB) capacity at Computex 2016 in Taipai in June.

The card combines high capacity with a data transfer speed of 95MB/s. The company announced that using the card, consumers could transfer an entire Full HD movie in less than 30 seconds as well as store more than one hundred movies.

“Mobile technologies are constantly evolving. And with that evolution there are increased data file size needs and the demand for higher capacity storage. With this 256GB capacity, PNY has now enabled consumers to capture footage and store more data than ever before on their smartphone, tablet or action camera,” said Thomas Climer, senior director of Product Marketing at PNY.

The Elite flash memory card withstands tough environments, and the company’s 5 Proof technology powers them. Climer added they have been tested to be temperature-, magnet-, X-ray-, shock- and waterproof.

In addition, PNY Elite memory cards have a limited lifetime warranty.

The Specs

According to the specs, the 256GB Elite microSDHC memory card stores 55,200 photos, 12 hours of 4K UHD video, 33 hours of Full HD video, 46 hours of HD video or 23,500 MP3 files/songs. The card is also U3, UHS-1, Class 10 rated.

The PNY 256GB Elite microSDXC memory cards will be available for purchase starting in July.
