Commack, NY—To mark the 45th anniversary of the iconic SP 90mm f/2.5 macro lens, Tamron is releasing a mirrorless version. The Tamron 90mm F2.8 Di III Macro VXD (model F072) is a mid-telephoto 1:1 macro lens for Sony E-mount and Nikon Z-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras. The lens is a solution for various genres, including macro, portrait, tabletop, long-distance photography as well as scenes with point-sources of light.
Tamron 90mm F2.8 Di III Macro VXD Product Features
Optical performance and image reproduction: Adopting its predecessors’ soft, blurred bokeh, the new lens offers resolution performance from the center to the edges as well as a 3D effect that highlights the subject.
Optical Construction: 15 elements in 12 groups include four special glass LD (low dispersion) lens elements to suppress spherical and chromatic aberration. BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) coating also minimizes ghosting and flare.
Tamron’s first 12-blade circular aperture: The lens produces circular bokeh and a 12-ray starburst effect. This is especially true in the macro range, with a maximum magnification in between 1:1 to 1:4.
Compact size: The lens measures 5.1 inches in length in the Z mount and 5 inches in the E mount, with a 79.2mm maximum diameter. Additionally, it weights 22.6 ounces in the Z mount (22.2 ounces, E mount).
AF performance. The lens is engineered for high-speed, precise AF with subject tracking.
Additional Features:
- A new structural lens hood has a sliding window for easy filter rotation
- 67mm filter size
- Focus set button for assigning camera functions and Tamron Lens Utility functions
- Focus limiter switch for faster focusing during AF and quick refocusing on subjects
- Precise torque for accurate MF operation
