Clearly, smartphones have taken a toll on ownership of compact digital cameras. Still, more affluent households have a significantly higher rate of ownership.
Camcorder ownership dropped similarly to compact cameras in percentage of household ownership. However, with a much lower penetration rate to start with, and with more competition than ever both from cameras and smartphones, this category is more challenged.
