1023

111 years ago this past week (September 4th to be exact), in 1888 – a Rochester bank teller named George Eastman received patent #388,850 for his roll-film camera and registered his trademark: "Kodak."

The Kodak camera was quickly placed on the market, with the slogan, "You press the button – we do the rest." This was the truly the birth of snapshot photography and the emergence of the Kodak brand that would become synonymous with picture taking for the next 100-plus years.
