Academy Meets Photokina

1551

Since its inception, the special area known as “Academy meets photokina“ has served as a central point of contact for art students and young photographers at photokina. Here, universities, colleges, and art academies from Germany and abroad present their latest photographic and imaging projects, degree projects, and exhibitions. Through these presentations they offer visitors an interesting glimpse into the creative possibilities of digital imaging. This year’s “Academy meets photokina” will provide young talents with another reason why they shouldn’t miss the world’s leading imaging fair: the student magazine of the newspaper DIE ZEIT will set up the Zeit Campus Lounge in Hall 1. Experts at the lounge will review visitors’ art portfolios free of charge. Admission to Hall 1 is free of charge as well.

From Tuesday, September 23, to Friday, September 26, several experts will be on hand at the lounge to offer constructive criticism of the works presented by young photographers. From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, the art folders will be reviewed by Haika Hinze from the art editorial team at DIE ZEIT and by Annett Osterwold and Malin Schulz from the art editorial team at ZEIT CAMPUS. The review activities will conclude on Sunday, September 28, with a service provided by the German Society for Photography (DGPh), in which instructors from European colleges will review visitors’ art portfolios free of charge from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Organized by Koelnmesse in cooperation with the German Society for Photography (DGPh), the Academy offers established photographers and dedicated young talents the opportunity to exchange creative ideas, make new contacts, and establish a basis for new business partnerships.
