Cisco Tuesday announced a product that it said would “forever change the Internet”- a new router called the CRS3. The product, which stands for “Carrier Routing System,” can move information at 322 terabits per second, triple the capacity of the company's predecessor, the CRS-1.

The CRS-3, the company said in a statement, is “designed to serve as the foundation of the next-generation Internet and set the pace for the astonishing growth of video transmission, mobile devices and new online services through this decade and beyond.” The product is meant to handle the huge growth in Internet video expected in the coming years.
