CEA: Customers Care About Energy Efficiency

Consumers are indeed paying attention to energy efficiency when it comes to home technology purchasing decisions. That’s the conclusion of a Consumer Electronics Association study released this week.

According to the study, Home Technologies and Energy Efficiency: A Look At Behaviors, Issues and Solutions, about 10 percent of households have undergone a "home energy audit," and of those, 61 percent have purchased new, more energy-efficient replacements of either appliances or electronics devices.

“The possibility of another rise in home energy costs provides CE manufacturers and electronic system contractors the opportunity to educate homeowners on technology and systems that maximize home energy efficiency,”  CEA’s senior research analyst, Chris Ely, said as part of the release of the study.

“Consumers are first turning to home improvement stores and utility companies for solutions. CE manufacturers of energy efficient products and systems should look for ways to increase their presence and work with these outlets to improve consumer awareness.”
