Creve Coeur Camera of St. Louis has purchased Columbia Photo in a transaction in early April of this year.

Columbia Photo which has been servicing Columbia, Jefferson City and the mid-Missouri region for over 42 years had announced in mid-February that they would be ceasing operations.  At the same time they contacted Stephen Weiss, President of Creve Coeur Camera, to see if he would be interested in acquiring the company.  Weiss met with Tom Atkins, owner of Columbia Photo, and the deal was agreed to.

Weiss said most of the Columbia Photo staff would remain.  Customers will be seeing a larger variety of products and manufacturers at the Columbia store including Canon, Pentax, Nikon, Fuji, Panasonic and Sony cameras as well as new and expanded camera bags, tripods, lighting and other accessories.  Columbia Photo’s photofinishing offerings will be expanded also. Columbia Photo will remain at 111 S. Ninth Street in Columbia.

Creve Coeur Camera, which was founded in 1974, has eight stores and 90 employees in the St. Louis metropolitan region.  Columbia Photo has one store in Columbia Missouri with 7 employees.
