With storage and organization of digital content becoming a hot button issue with consumers these days, it’s encouraging to see several manufacturers coming to market with portable, high capacity, removable hard drives. On top of the growing demand for these devices in the consumer market, the small and medium business market (SMB) is desperate for simple, affordable storage solutions as well.
With these needs in mind, ProStor Systems, a developer of removable disk storage solutions, recently launched RDXstorage.com, a Web site designed as a central hub for the latest news and information on removable storage technology. The site is an educational destination for end users and focuses on ProStor’s latest technology in this area, RDX. This new multi-vendor standard for backup, archive and portable data applications is gaining steam and adding new partners. Imation, Dell and Tandberg recently signed on and the list is growing.
Users who click to the site will find informational background on RDX technology, technical specifications and support documentation, in addition to links to RDX partner sites. The company explains that consumers and small businesses can customize their backup strategies using RDX media with cartridge capacities of 40 GB, 80 GB, 120 GB and 160 GB. The palm-sized cartridges can be stacked, labeled, bar-coded and managed onsite or stored offsite for added protection.
Expect new product in this market from a slew of companies in 2007 as the topic of digital content storage and management will make big news all year.
