CE Spending Rose in First Half of Last Month

In numbers that may portend a healthy holiday season for the CE industry, consumers spent 6.1 percent more on electronics in the first half of November than in the same period last year, according to an analysis by Mastercard Advisors’ MasterCard SpendingPulse.

Electronics outperformed several other economic sectors during the time period in question.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the analysts attributed the strong sales in the "preseason" to the success of the new "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" game, as well as  the Windows 7 launch and earlier-than-usual sales and promotions by several major retailers.
