Survey: Kids Love CE

Survey: Kids Love CE

More and more kids are using consumer electronics devices, with more than a third of children between the ages of 4 and 14 owning a portable music player and one in four having their own video game console.

That’s according to a survey released earlier this week by NPD Group, “Kids & Consumer Electronics Vol. 5."

The survey also found that girls are becoming more likely than boys to use cell phones and laptops, and that kids are talking on the phone less and sending text messages and photos more.

“CE devices are great, but content is the key driver that will help continue the growth of the kids CE market, particularly digital content, which goes hand-in-hand with portable devices,” NPD’s industry analyst, Anita Frazier, said as part of the announcement.  “The increase in usage of portable devices opens up more opportunity to distribute digital content.
